We are excited to offer Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments at Universal Dermatology & Vein Care. PRP is a method that uses platelets from your own blood to stimulate skin and hair regrowth and rejuvenation. It is commonly injected into the face or scalp and can also be used as an add-on to microneedling procedures to boost collagen production.
How It Works
At Universal Dermatology & Vein Care, we utilize the Eclipse PRP® system for PRP treatments. The Eclipse Platelet Rich Plasma system utilizes a patented separator gel technology to isolate the platelets from the blood while eliminating undesirable inflammatory components, such as red blood and white blood cells.
Platelets contain growth factors that regulate skin healing by signaling the surrounding cells to repair damage and regenerate new tissue like collagen and blood vessels. When injected into the skin and scalp, or used with microneedling, PRP encourages skin and hair to grow and regenerate, leading to younger looking skin and thicker, healthier hair.
PRP for Hair Loss
PRP treatments can help stimulate hair growth and increase hair density in patients noticing early signs of hair thinning. Hair loss is a common genetic condition and can be stressful for both men and women. Traditional hair loss treatments, such as topical medicines, hair vitamins or prescription medications, can have side effects and limited success. PRP is a way to stimulate hair growth and thickness naturally, without surgery or downtime. The treatment uses your own platelets and growth factors to awaken dormant hair follicles and promote hair growth. Typically, 3-4 scalp PRP sessions are needed and are scheduled one month apart. Continued maintenance treatments can be performed every 6-12 months to sustain the results. It is important to note that PRP is not a cure for baldness. The best candidates for this treatment should be in the beginning stages of hair loss.

PRP Therapy FAQ
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy is a natural treatment that uses your body’s own healing properties to rejuvenate the skin and encourage healthier hair growth. Whether you’re considering PRP for facial rejuvenation, microneedling, acne scars, or hair restoration, our experienced providers at Universal Dermatology & Vein Care will create a personalized treatment plan based on your goals. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about PRP therapy.
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy is a regenerative treatment that uses a concentrated portion of your own blood to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. Rich in growth factors, PRP can improve skin tone and texture, stimulate collagen production, reduce the appearance of scars and fine lines, and promote healthier, fuller hair growth.
A small sample of your blood is drawn and processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components. The PRP is then injected into targeted areas or applied during treatments like microneedling, where it delivers growth factors that stimulate collagen production, tissue repair, and skin rejuvenation.
PRP hair restoration works by injecting platelet-rich plasma into areas of the scalp affected by thinning hair. The growth factors in PRP help stimulate dormant hair follicles, improve blood supply to the scalp, and support healthier, thicker hair growth. PRP is often recommended for patients experiencing early hair thinning or certain types of hair loss.
Most patients experience only mild discomfort during PRP treatment. A topical numbing cream is typically applied before facial treatments or microneedling, while scalp injections are generally well tolerated. Most patients return to normal activities shortly after their appointment.
PRP therapy is commonly used to improve fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, uneven skin texture, enlarged pores, sun-damaged skin, dull or aging skin, hair thinning, and certain types of hair loss. Your provider will recommend the most appropriate treatment plan based on your individual concerns.
Because PRP is created from your own blood, it offers a natural treatment option with minimal risk of an allergic reaction. Benefits may include smoother skin, improved texture and tone, increased collagen production, reduced acne scars, healthier-looking skin, and thicker, fuller hair when used for hair restoration.
The number of PRP treatments depends on your goals and the condition being treated. Many patients benefit from an initial series of three to four treatments spaced several weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments to help preserve their results.
PRP results develop gradually as your body responds to the released growth factors. Some patients notice healthier-looking skin within a few weeks, while collagen production continues improving over several months. Hair restoration results typically become more noticeable after several months and continue improving with additional treatments.
Because PRP uses your own blood, the risk of an allergic reaction is extremely low. Mild redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, or temporary sensitivity at the treatment site are the most common side effects and usually resolve within a few days. Before treatment, your provider will review the expected recovery process and any potential risks.
