Spray tanning, or sunless tanning, is a great way to achieve a healthy glow. Spray tans can vary in cost, shade, and duration, however, all spray tans are better than real tanning. When you lay out in the sun or visit a tanning bed, you expose your skin to UV rays that can lead to bad burns and skin cancer. Tanning can also lead to wrinkles and premature aging. With spray tans, you can still achieve the tanned look you want while protecting your skin.
Spray tanning involves a mist being sprayed over the skin either by a machine or a technician. The mist contains Dihydroxyacetone or DHA which reacts with the body’s chemistry to turn the skin a bronze color. The effects of spray tanning last anywhere from three to seven days and are harmless. More often the spray tan solution contains emollients to help moisturize the skin for an even longer lasting, better looking sunless tan. Spray tan shades can be adjusted depending on your natural skin tone.
